Steve Mize
Award-Winning Solo Performer
"...strike nerves of terror and humor, in that order.” —LA Weekly
Mize's hilarious monologue with rapid pacing and keen sensitivity puts an all-too-human face on the anguish and humiliating types of self-delusion required to pursue a career in the arts.
-- Huffington Post
“Mize is personable and open…garners many laughs…has a well-honed stand-up comic delivery and comfortably forays into improvisation. …and it is not an exaggeration to say that I felt the whole audience shudder." -- nytheaternow.com

Bio
I’m creative. I believe in expansion and discovery. I want people to have permission to be vulnerable, be scared, unsure, find courage, make mistakes, celebrate and connect with each other. That’s why I act: to create joy and share it with the world. I hope to help others release their fears and play freely, like wearing their favorite t-shirt.
As a creator, I paint, build, sculpt, design, write, act and toy with voices. I gravitate towards colors in fashion and nature.
I'm also a professional actor and writer based in Los Angeles.
I've been in TV shows like Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, CSI: Vegas, Days of Our Lives, Bones, Ironside, Lie To Me, Truth Be Told, and the Series Finale of ER.
I received two Best Actor awards at First Glance and Treasure Coast International Film Festivals for my lead performance in the indie hit, PLEA.
I received Best Comedian for my solo play Life, Audited, Off-Broadway at the United Solo Festival, NYC. It first premiered in LA, then received Best of Fringe in San Francisco, toured the country and has been published.
I'm a lifetime member of the world-renown Actor’s Studio where I've performed in plays such as Orphans, Staten Island Ferry, and They Eat Their Young. I've studied with illuminates, like Al Pacino, Ellen Burstyn, Arthur Penn, Martin Landau, Paul Newman, Estelle Parsons and Julie Harris
I'm also an All-Star storyteller from The Moth, and perform my original stories in LA at venues such as The Muse Salon, Echo Theater Company, Spark Off Rose, Gorgeous Stories, Trunk Show, Fanatic and I Love A Good Story (podcast).
In NYC, I've worked with the New York Theatre Workshop, Circle in the Square-Downtown, Primary Stages and the John Montgomery Theater Company.
My plays have been produced in Los Angeles by Sixty-Six Theater Company (West Hollywood), where I also perform regularly, including Blue Surge and the long-running story show, Stranger Than Fiction.
I've directed twelve short films and acted in twenty more.
I've done 50+ national commercials and continuously work as a voice actor in commercials, animation and video games.
I've toured nationally as an award-winning professional speaker and storyteller, delivering inspiring keynote speeches on the benefit of creativity and art.
I have an M.F.A. degree in acting from the inaugural class of the Actor’s Studio Program at the New School University, NY
At Texas A&M University, I toured the American Premier of Saturday Night at the Palace - Best Actor in the Regional ACTF Festival.
I currently live in LA, with my wife and daughter, my puppy Saffron, and Oona the kitty. We are a creative family, making our living as writers, performers, and other creative arts. We also enjoy exercise, dark chocolate, sunsets and Sugarfish.
